Kinja'd!!!7 Kinja'd!!! 2

Took a break from work and went in search of some pelicans. I was on our deck last night when 7 of them flew overhead, low enough I could hear them gliding through the air. It’s still weird to me that there are pelicans in Colorado.

What’s not as weird to me are the coyotes in Colorado. Just before the lone pelican above landed in the little pond, we spotted this guy just off to our right, watching us. After we walked away, he strolled into some brush and laid down.

After that, we spotted a handful of pelicans hanging out, then had to head back home. There is a huge flock we’re going to try and check out later this evening, 20-30 were swimming in another small pond.

Kinja'd!!!

And a few of these American Avocets around the shoreline, too.  There were a TON of screeching killdeer nearby, quite upset by our presence. We didn’t get close enough for them to have to play dead/hurt to escort us away from the nest, though.

This post is noticeably lacking in quality car content. We did drive the 4Runner today, so there’s that, I guess.

They definitely aren’t hurting for food. Tons of prairie dogs, rabbits, and the occasional small neighborhood dog.
